Leah
Leah’s introduction to the Pilates world began as studio manager of the Pilates Center of Corpus Christi in 2009. Capitalizing on the opportunity to learn more about her Pilates work environment, Leah began training 2-3 times a week on the apparatus. An avid surfer and yoga practitioner, she began to notice changes in body composition after a few short months of Pilates. A natural athlete who built muscle easily on her compact frame, Leah noted that the muscles in her arms and legs appeared longer, more lean, less bulky. Similarly, she had more definition in her mid section---abs! Ultimately, she noticed improvement in her surfing performance as well as strength carryover into her yoga practice from training in the Pilates method.
Leah’s teaching emphasizes the vital nature of breathing, a principle common to both yoga and Pilates. Integrating breath with precise, controlled movements on a moveable surface such as the Reformer challenges one’s coordination, balance and agility. The benefits of longer muscles, greater definition, and enhanced performance certainly are just a few of the great side effects of Pilates for your body.
Leah obtained a Master of Fine Arts in Imaging and Communication through Goldsmith’s University of London in 2009. Inspired to share the benefits of her Pilates and yoga training with others, Leah pursued her yoga teacher training certification through Yoga Yoga and her Reformer certification through Balanced Body. She is the creator of Surfyogafestival.com. Leah has been teaching at Studio Be since 2012.
